Roger Chown appointed to the Bench

Our former partner Roger Chown was appointed to the bench on October 2, 2020, and as a result, as of that date he is no longer a partner in the firm. 

Roger was an engineer before he became a lawyer. He graduated in mechanical engineering at Queen’s University and worked in the industry for three years, obtaining his P.Eng. designation in 1988. He attended the University of Windsor Law School, graduating in 1991, and then started his legal career in Toronto. In 1994, Roger moved to Barrie and joined Kevin Carroll and Richard Heyd in practice at what was then Carroll Heyd. Roger became a partner in 2000 and the firm was renamed Carroll Heyd Chown LLP at that time. 

Roger’s main area of practice was civil litigation, primarily insurance-related litigation. 

After an affiliation with the firm which lasted 26 years, Roger has been appointed as a Justice of the Superior Court of Justice of Ontario (Owen Sound).
