
Background
Sherry completed her Law Practice Program (LPP) practical training with Carroll Heyd Chown and joined the firm as an Associate in 2026. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Common Law.
While in law school, Sherry was selected for the highly competitive Legal Writing Leader Program and later served as a Peer Mentor within the Faculty of Common Law. She also summered with family law firms in Ottawa and St. Catharines, gaining practical legal experience in varied professional environments.
Sherry brings a non-traditional path to the legal profession, shaped by more than seven years of leadership experience and a strong commitment to client-centred advocacy. Before pursuing a legal career, Sherry advanced into multiple management roles within the hospitality sector in Niagara Region, including Event Manager at Chateau des Charmes Winery and Food and Beverage Supervisor at Prince of Wales Hotel, where she developed strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills while working with individuals from diverse cultural and personal backgrounds.
Sherry is bilingual, and she is pleased to serve her communities in both English and Mandarin Chinese. She is known for her trauma-informed approach, empathy, and ability to build meaningful rapport with clients, enabling her to guide individuals through challenging and often emotionally complex circumstances with professionalism and compassion. She is dedicated to providing thoughtful, practical, and client-focused legal services while continuing to develop as an advocate and trusted legal advisor.
Outside the office, you might spot Sherry exploring local farmers’ markets or hiking trails with her corgi, Kiwi. She also enjoys Zumba, comedy shows, and board games with friends and family. As a former fine-dining sommelier and WSET-certified wine consultant, Sherry can also be found in winery tasting rooms, speaking with winemakers about viticulture and the latest winemaking techniques.
