Upon completion of the Graduate Law Program at the University of Sydney, Melissa achieved her LLB and was subsequently called to the New South Wales Bar in Australia. After pursuing other career opportunities overseas in London, England, including freelance writing and project management for a magazine publishing house, Melissa penned a fiction-based novel before her return to Canada, where she came full circle and reignited her passion for the Law. Melissa was called to the Ontario Bar in 2021 and is expanding her practice area to Family Law, with a background in Personal Injury and Civil Litigation. Prior to her legal studies, Melissa graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and a Minor in Political Science.
Born and raised in Simcoe County and having lived and worked in three different countries, Melissa travelled extensively before returning to her home roots and joining Carroll Heyd Chown in 2022.
During her free time, Melissa enjoys nature walks with her favourite British pooch Mozart and loves being curled up with a book that is still made with paper.
Melissa is a member of the Simcoe County Family Law Lawyer’s Association and she will be or has already joined SCLA, OBA/CBA, Advocate’s Society, STELA.
